Background

On the 23rd October 2003, a group of 30 people met at the National Hockey Stadium in Milton Keynes to establish a new supporters club in Milton Keynes following the arrival of Wimbledon FC (now renamed Milton Keynes Dons FC) from their former home at Selhurst Park in South London.

Of those present, a number volunteered to initially undertake officer roles for the club as part of a steering committee to lead the club during it’s formation stages, until the first full AGM in May 2004 where officers were elected by the members. All Committee members work voluntarily.

Since then, among other things, we have:

·        Established our website MKDons

·        Adopted our constitution, (Published on this website)

·        Sent coaches to every away game since November 2003

·        Developed a regular programme of social events that have included both entertainment and presentations from various groups such as Inter MK. Our social events have also been regularly supported by Stuart Murdoch and members of the first team squad.

·        Actively supported in a number of different ways the planning application for the new football stadium at Denbigh North.

·        Established our accounts

·        Grown our membership

·        Raised funds for Football in the Community, the clubs Academy, St John’s Ambulance and Children in Need.

·        Initiated Supporters club end of season awards

·        Lobbied InterMK to take the Supporters views into account when deciding important matters such as a name change.

·        Conducted a phone vote on the name change

·        Attended the Football Supporters Federation conference.

Although we are an independent group we have a regular interface with Club Officials and Inter MK. We have also established constructive links with:

·        the local press and media who give us regular features and coverage

·        the local authority

·        a range of community organisations

·        The Football League (Safety & Customer Services).

·        Thames Valley Police

·        Established links with Supporters Direct.

Our members are from Milton Keynes, South London, East Anglia, the South Midlands and other parts of the UK as far away as Cornwall. We also have overseas members in Denmark, Ukraine, New Zealand and Australia.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the MK Dons Supporters Association is to provide an organised and family oriented supporters club for Milton Keynes Dons FC following their move to Milton Keynes.
